Topic: Switching between drum racks (Like Nev)

Chain selectors allow you to switch between multiple drum racks, so you can have up to 127 samples on one button.

1. Drag an instrument rack into a new midi track.

2. Create however many chains you need (I'll be using 8).

3. Map the chain selector to a macro. To do this, press the "map" button on the instrument rack, click on the chain selector, and then click "map" under the first macro.

4. Open midi map mode and click on your chain selector macro.

5. Press all the buttons you want to use at the same time. 1 chain = 1 button.

6. Set the minimum as 1, and your maximum as the amount of chains you have.

7. You should now be able to select different chains. If not, try again or post a reply.

Re: Switching between drum racks (Like Nev)

Awesome tutorial, very clear and well structured smile

One thing though, in step 5, you can simply hold down the first and last buttons of the group of buttons you want to use (instead of having to press every single button at the same time).

Keep up the great work big_smile

Sticked.

Re: Switching between drum racks (Like Nev)

I think he meant somthing different which i had a video uploaded about but i accidentally deleted it where in one chain you can have  up to 24 sample on one button like Nev does a lot. Here is a tutorial on how to do that:

1. Drag a random effect, which is under midi effects, onto your chain. (Note: For example purposes I am doing it on a fresh midi track but you should be doing it inside one of the slots of the drum rack.)

Screenshot 1

2. Set chance to 100%, mode to Alt (by clicking on 'Rnd') and sign to "Add".

Screenshot 2

3. Set choices to 2 for now and move it up as you need more samples on the button.

Screenshot 3

4. Under the Instruments section, find "Sampler" and drag it onto your chain.

Screenshot 4

5. Drag your first sample into the area where it says "Drag sample here".

Screenshot 5

6. Click the "Zone" button which will make this area pop up.

Screenshot 6

7. Drag the ends of the green bar until it only is on one note, C3.

Screenshot 7

8. Drag your second sample into the zone box.

Screenshot 8

9. Drag the ends again but this time onto the next note up.

Screenshot 9

10. Double click on the sample name in the "Zone" box and change the root key until the "R" is on the green box, in this case 1 shift up.

Screenshot 10

11. Repeat process until all samples are done, remembering to increase the "Choices" and moving up one note for every sample.

Woops. Updated the title.

BTW, you should post that tutorial in a new topic so everyone can see.

Re: Switching between drum racks (Like Nev)

I found an easier way of doing this if you are switching between premade projects, just drag each project onto the track list and macro a key to the solo play button on the the drum rack and midi lights for each project.

Re: Switching between drum racks (Like Nev)

It's pretty much could be everything. It could be a rack inside of an instrument rack. It could be a row of effects grouped together. Overall just something inside of a rack.
