Topic: How to use Launchpaddr with your launchpad!

Hello and this is a tutorial on how to use Launchpaddr (http://launchpaddr.com//) with ableton and the launchpad using MIDI files and with a shiz load of help from our friend Exige this will help newcomers and maybe even professionals make awesome light shows

First you should download the Max 7 Extension that Exige gladly made public http://forum.launchpad-pro.com/viewtopic.php?id=4939

Note: you must have Max 7 for this to work

This is a quick tut so i might of missed some stuff i'll make a full video tut soon

Step 1. Open a blank ableton session as you normally would

Step 2. Setup your LP with the MIDI track to get light feedback

Step 3. Add a instrument rack and put a drum rack into the instrument rack

Step 4.
Go back to your MIDI track and add a MIDI effect rack like so

Step 5. Go launchpaddr.com and make any light effect then click file and export to midi then choose Ableton user 1 and the kind of Launchpad your using

Step 6. This is what the MIDI file should look like

Step 7. The MIDI file needs to be exported from ableton so drag the MIDI file onto the midi track (Note: if you might need to do some warping to make the effect faster then you want it to be because if you export it without warping it the effect will be slower if you don't warp it) then select it and export as MIDI

Step 8. Drag the newly exported file into the max life box

Step 9.
Now when you push whatever button on the LP the effect should work

Step 10. but we want to put it on a single button so click the button you want and a red light should show on the keys on the MIDI effect rack now just track the green bar until its under the red light

You can get it here. But it only works if you have the Suite version of Ableton.

Are you sure you need to have max 7? Because I specifically had to move back to 6.1 for it to work XD

When I was a kid, we didn't have any of these fancy "midi controllers"

okay so whenever i try to put the download.mid file in the midi extension thing it brings up a pop up that says download.mid: sorry; i only take single-track files only.... what do i do???

I really like this tool, but the MIDIs are not compatible with the Launchpad Pro (the user mode also makes use of the circular buttons around the edge). Are you considering updating Launchpaddr to work with the Launchpad Pro?
