Looks very usefull!

What's this ?

It's MIDI tool for use with FLStudio and the launchpad. (He should works with Ableton)

You can create Lightshow easily with this !

What can I do ?

You can change the tempo, the colors, make it as loop and much more

I wanna try !

Sure, here's the link :

BE CAREFULL: It's in alpha developpent, contact the creator if you see some bugs.

You're the best!

Is anyone else having problems with changing the BPM?

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

Hey Guys,
bouncing over here as I am just seeing this now. I am the dude writing this in my spare time ( and yes, everything is still quite alpha -- it doesnt even have a proper name / domain yet ) I mainly put it out there to get feedback and see if there was interest in it.
To answer some of the questions :

BPM ? not yet, but that really doesnt impact much as all it is is a time stretch if you need it faster or slower, so I put it low on the priority list.

Albeton compatible ? not yet. I use FL primarily for my audio production (don't hate lol). but I will happily make it compatible with ableton as well, I just need to work through the logistics and mapping. which if anyone has a detailed mapping schema, that would help out alot. (ie : pad x1y1 = c#0 etc, and if the formula for red and green is the same, I believe its red^2 + green^4 but i could be mistaken, im not in front of the code atm)

Bear in mind, this is a simple project that I am working on the side on, so progress happens as I can find the time to put into it. (I also run a custom design / dev shop)

Thanks for the interest guys ! Ill try and keep on top of this thread, but my email is chris@discotoast.com if you want to contact me directly.

I did see this thread : http://forum.launchpad-pro.com/viewtopic.php?id=544 however i think there are a couple missing ?

Also, I don't own ableton, and I dont pirate my tools, will ableton lite suffice ? I think I got a copy of that with one of my axiom a while back, albeit, its a few years old now.

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

Making it ableton worthy would make my life complete. full stop.

I still make shitty launchpad covers and remakes.

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

It's still great to see the creator ! ^-^

So, Yeah, Ableton lite should be enough smile

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

I thank you guys for your patience, I couldn't find my live key, luckily the ableton guys were nice enough to give me a lite key to develop on. so, you can now export into ableton midi.

The way Ive got it to work so far:

- New Midi track
- Launchpad in and out set in midi from and to.
- Monitor : off
- Set launchpad to usermode 2

doodle in launchpaddr, save as ableton midi, and drag into the midi track, and press play.

let me know your comments / suggestions !

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

also, for your info Quentinover, the formula for getting launchpad colors is :
R = 0 to 3, 0 off, 3 max
G = 0 to 3, same

velocity = g*16 + r

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

Also, I must advise caution when making very complex animations. The launchpad animation speed is entirely dependent on the transfer rate the device can accept. if you make too complicated of animations, you will notice the launchpad slow down and start to buffer out (lag behind trying to catch up)

just want to caution users to start simple and then go from there.

I will be looking into ways I can optimize the output (ie : each frame has its own note -- if the next frame has the same note lit up, then dont cut it off) but for now, it works.

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

Good to know thanks!

I've tried, and It's great ! The only problem is everytime there's a new frame, the lightshow blink, that's sad sad
Also, The left top button is still yellow when I want some red... weird

Re: Launchpaddr - A simply way to create lightshows !

Yep, the flash has to do with each note being triggered per frame.  Thats what I will be trying to solve next, to minimize the midi load + make it better performance wise.

Top left has been fixed though i think.
